Forklifts are an essential part of material handling in many industries, including warehouses, construction sites, factories, and logistics operations. They are used daily for lifting, transporting, stacking, and loading materials. While forklifts improve efficiency, they also introduce significant safety risks if not used correctly.
This course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical awareness required for safe forklift operation. Participants will learn how to identify different types of forklifts, understand their applications, and select the correct equipment for specific tasks and environments.
The training focuses on safe operation principles, including stability, load handling, travelling rules, and hazard awareness. It also covers pre-use inspections, functional testing, and the importance of maintaining equipment in safe working condition. Legal requirements such as PUWER and LOLER are introduced to ensure understanding of compliance and responsibilities in the workplace.
In addition, the course addresses battery handling, LPG safety, attachments, workplace traffic management, and emergency response procedures. Participants will develop the ability to recognise risks, prevent accidents, and operate forklifts in a controlled and responsible manner.
The objective is not only to operate a forklift, but to do so safely, efficiently, and with full awareness of the working environment and potential hazards.
